White supremacy is gaining a foothold in various regions, both on the mainlands and islands. Unfortunately, it has become somewhat normalized and accepted, especially since we have welcomed them back as tourists. This acceptance has led to a sense of frustration and a diminishing of our own freedom. The influence of their power has led authorities to prioritize their interests over those of the local population. It is disheartening to witness this happening in my community. In a poetic composition of dance, music, text, YIN-YANG is a performance that explores the concept of balance and imbalance in life and uses the contrast between black and white colours to express the experiences of individual perspectives on human and social.

A moment is a duet which demonstrates the complexity and layers of a moment. It talks about how a moment can change an individual’s attitudes to thoughts, experiences and life in general. The interpretation of this piece shows the power of courage, built up through the events that happen in ones life by surprise and later lead us to patience, attentiveness and understanding in facing challenges or joys.
The dance piece explores the questions of how moments define our existence and how our existence and experiences depend on how we experience the current moments.
The dance is centered around the concept of moments, existence, courage and our unique and personal interaction with them. It explores the physical and emotional possibility to demonstrate our shared moments with one another and how we show support, care and comfort while experiencing it.

Music: Dreammaker Zonk't

Duration 20 Minutes

A contemporary dance theater piece that talks about the journey of artists to success. All artists have dreams and plans to success but in middle of the journey most of them give up because of the challenges that line their careers for so long, freedom, abuse, betrayal, rape, despair, a lack of money, a life full of drama. All artists have to pass some of those challenges to achieve success in their career. Unfortunately their success will never show the reality to audiences and people. Instead people start to see an illusion of a successful career and confuse it with a successful life.

What is Africa?

The brain is full of thoughts. Thoughts that are restlessly moving. Some of them do so in cowardice and truth, influenced by faith, love and a lack of freedom.
This performance tells about the built up and created heritages that Africa is left with.

Duration 20 Minutes

The idea for this piece was born out of observation of youth in my community, watching them copy foreign dance moves whilst they don’t even know Tanzania's own indigenous movements. We do not really appreciate our ancestors spirits anymore. For example when performing rituals nowadays people think about witchcraft however in the past these were respectable ceremonies.
I believe that if we forget or ignore our communities spirits bad luck will come.. External influences in dance will always be there and are mostly positive, however it is important to know our roots.

Body vs mouth

Choreographed by Nantea Dance Company

Duration 20 Minutes

The inspiration to this piece came after reading about the poaching of elephants in the Tanzanian ‘Citizen’ Newspaper, the WWF Reports and watching television news.  As patriots of our country and a artists who can address social issues we worked on this project aimed to educate people about the importance of coexisting with wildlife.
