Tadhi Alawi is a Tanzanian entrepreneur and multidisciplinary artist, working as a movement researcher, curator, filmmaker, performer, and choreographer. He is the co-founder and creative director of Nantea Dance Company, based in Dar es Salaam, known for creating visually striking performances inspired by Tanzanian social life, colonial histories, and the dynamics of a rapidly changing world.

 

Tadhi currently co-curates Kiota Cha Dansi, a dance platform in Dar es Salaam developed in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Tanzania and Nantea Dance Company to foster exchange and development within the performance dance scene. In 2024, he was appointed curator of the Dance Platform Project at the Haba na Haba International Dance Festival, bringing together 15 performing artists from across Sub-Saharan Africa in partnership with Goethe-Institut Tanzania.

 

His dance films have received international recognition, including a feature on BBC News (2020), and he was awarded Best Interface with the Public at the Dare to Dance in Public Film Festival (2020). With extensive international experience performing, teaching, and choreographing across Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Americas.

Tadhi has qualified as an Alumni and yoga instructor with certification of each three-year-trainings at Africa Yoga Academy in Nairobi Kenya and Muda Africa Dance School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. â€‹His vision is to portray different forms of beauty through Arts, as a mean of creating a positive impact and contributing to the development of Tanzanias Arts Scene."
